Dave’s Coast to Coast Challenge

By October 13, 2015Uncategorized

Dave’s story

My Galway to Dublin run will be over 5 days (12th – 16th October) and will be 225km’s in total. It works out at a marathon per day. It will take me through 7 counties (Galway, Roscommon, Westmeath, Offaly, Kildare, Meath and Dublin). I am fundraising for the Bumbleance charity. It is a children’s ambulance service which provides stress-reducing journeys for children in state-of-the-art, safe and fun vehicles. My target is to raise €5,000 plus. I am encouraging people along the route to join me for some of the distance and have contacted running clubs, business’, colleges etc for support.

The company I work for, Europcar, has nominated Bumbleance as their charity partner for 2015. They are providing me with a support vehicle, fundraisers along the route etc for the challenge. Also a large number of employees will be participating in the run at different sections.

I am a member of Dunboyne AC in Co.Meath for over 3 years. I have been training 5 days a week for this challenge with typical weekly mileage 70 – 80 miles per week and increasing. I have run 12 marathons to date including a track marathon as a fundraiser for our running club.

I have met with a number of celebrities so far to help publicise my event, with more planned. (Sonia O’Sullivan, Eamon Coughlan, Tommy Tiernan & Ardal O’Hanlon) Pictures can be found on my facebook event page:
