Busy Bee Nuala Carey Buzzing As New BUMBLEance Patron

Dublin, 28th May 2014 BUMBLEance, the national Children’s ambulance service was hoping for good weather today as it announced Nuala Carey, the RTE Weather presenter as a new patron.

The BUMBLEance was launched in September 2013 by Miriam O Callaghan, Carey’s RTE colleague who is already a patron of the BUMBLEances Sister Charity Liams Lodge.

BUMBLEance itself was at RTE for Nuala Carey to launch her patronage of the world’s only dedicated interactive children’ s ambulance. The BUMBLEance visit allowed staff at the national broadcaster to view first-hand the wonderful work that it does around the country on a daily basis.

The BUMBLEance staff are currently collecting mobile phones in a nationwide campaign to help fund getting a second children’s ambulance on the road before the end of 2014.

Following many uncomfortable trips in ambulances and cars to treatment centres the Heffernans, through The Saoirse Foundation have created the World’s first interactive children’s ambulance service. The BUMBLEance is a fully functioning emergency ambulance, but what makes BUMBLEance different is that it looks like a Bumble Bee from the outside and inside it has everything a child might need to distract from a stressful journey.

Nuala Carey , said “I am thrilled with this fantastic opportunity for me to help promote the BUMBLEance and share this wonderful service with the thousands of families with sick children that are weathering the storm of recession in Ireland. If one family realise this wonderful service exists or donate a mobile phone to BUMBLEance because of my involvement I will be very happy.”

Tony Heffernan, founder of BUMBLEance added: “Our vision is to have one BUMBLEance for each province by the end of 2015 plus an additional BUMBLEance for Dublin. Having patrons such as Nuala allows our profile to increase and will help us to reach every house in Ireland. We want to be in a position to offer this service to every parent of a sick child that requires ambulance transportation to appointments and would ask everyone to support us and also to send us old mobile phones to guarantee the growth of our service. In the future we hope BUMBLEance will take off, literally.”
