Blackwater Source To Sea Challenge In Aid of BUMBLEance

Blackwater Source to Sea ChallengeThe guys at Mondelez, Rathmore are taking on some challenge to raise funds and awareness for BUMBLEance! The challenge is to travel 105 miles from the source of the River Blackwater in Ballydesmond to the sea at Youghal. The team are planning to leave from Ballydesmond on March 23rd and arrive in Youghal on Saturday the 28th of March.

The aim is to travel the entire 105 miles of the River Blackwater from the Source to the Sea. The team of five undertaking the journey includes David O Keeffe, John Murt, Daniel Hickey, Danny Dillane and Denis Rahilly.

The six day trip will begin, weather permitting on Monday the 23rd of March and finish at the Quays in Youghal at midday Saturday the 28th. The journey will commence with a six mile walk from the source at Muinganine to Ballydesmond Village and from here the kayaks will be used to paddle to Knocknagree. The canadian canoe will be waiting here loaded with supplies and the necessary camping and cooking equipment for the rest of the excursion. The next five days will be spent journeying the river through Kerry, Cork and Waterford with various stops along the way. This is all being done to raise awareness and funds for The BUMBLEance – Children’s Ambulance Service.
