BUMBLEance is Ireland’s Children’s Ambulance Service. As the world’s first interactive ambulance purposefully designed for children, BUMBLEance has the capacity to operate the latest medical equipment, ensuring children have access to access medical care, regardless of location or resources.
BUMBLEance operates 15 vehicles – with more on the way! To make such difficult journeys a bit easier, each of these vehicles contains a 19-inch (or larger) TV, a PlayStation, iPad, Netflix, Music, DVDs & Books. Each BUMBLEance also has onboard Wifi, which allows families to stay in touch with loved ones through social media.
Providing roughly 2,000 trips per year and travelling a combined 500,000 kilometres, BUMBLEance supports children in the care of any children’s hospital, providing medical transport for those with any and all medical needs. Our services exist to reduce financial hardship on families, remove the stress associated with organising regular medical transport and, most importantly, provide a safe, secure and fun environment for Ireland’s youngest patients. Services include:
- Pre- & Post-Surgical Appointment Transport
- Inter-Hospital Transfers
- Angel Trips (for patients making their final trip home)
- Respite & Hospice Trips
- Scheduled/Routine Medical Care Transport
- Chemo Cab (Regular trips for Chemotherapy)
- Transplants & Critical Care Transport
Of our 15 vehicles, 3 are operated by the National Ambulance Service in partnership with BUMBLEance, providing urgent and critical medical transport. The remaining 11 vehicles are operated by BUMBLEance, supporting families across Ireland.
In addition to transportation to/from hospitals and medical clinics, BUMBLEance also offers a service called Angel Trips. These thankfully rare trips support children that have received the devastating news that there are no further medical interventions available to them. Angel Trips see BUMBLEance organise a final trip home for the child so that they may be at home with their family and friends during this heartbreaking time.
